At PIMM Engineering, we have developed and optimized a ongoing partnership with Molecubes. Our key assignment was to design and produce high-precision mechanical parts for their medical scanners.
This began with small series production of mechanical components so that Molecubes could assemble their own devices. Throughout this process, we performed multiple iterations to continuously improve the manufacturability of these parts.
Another important project was the development of the 2.0 scanner. Together with Molecubes, we conducted a complete industrial redesign to significantly improve the stability and accuracy of the scanners. One of the crucial improvements was the development of a linear guidance system and kinematic coupling, which allowed for precise positioning of the scanner beds for consistent and repeatable results. These modifications reduced mechanical vibrations and ensured that image captures could be accurately overlaid.
In addition, we developed retrofits for Molecubes’ existing scanners, allowing them to be upgraded to the new 2.0 version. By utilizing innovative techniques and custom-made tools, we achieved significantly higher production quality and precision.
Our collaboration with Molecubes also resulted in an award-winning design, thanks to the unique aesthetic features of the aluminum scanner casings we produced. This project not only strengthened our relationship with Molecubes, but also confirmed our reputation as an innovative and reliable partner in the industrial mechanical engineering sector.
